West Harrow local information |

West Harrow is quite centrally located in the borough of Harrow, and slightly to the west as its name suggests. It is predominantly a residential area with mainly Edwardian and Victorian period properties, as well as 1930s semi-detached houses towards the North Harrow boundary. West Harrow is in the catchment area for the popular Vaughan First and Middle School, and within walking distance of Whitmore High School.
West Harrow’s Underground station opened in 1913, and is on the Uxbridge branch of the Metropolitan Line in zone 5. This provides excellent commuter travel into central London for the neighbourhood; the station is fairly unique in the borough as it is situated on a purely residential road. North Harrow station is a short walk away, which provides Watford branch travel, and Rayners Lane is nearby offering the Piccadilly Line option.
West Harrow Recreation Ground offers a large open space to play and relax. It has a recently renovated play area for younger children, and pretty, well-established gardens and plenty of large shady trees. The entrance to the park is at the end of Wilson Gardens, which itself has a nice lawn and tree area, as does The Gardens nearby.
Being a residential area it doesn’t have a main shopping road, but does benefit from local corner shops. Central Harrow is a short walk away for mainstream shopping facilities.
West Harrow borders with Central Harrow, North Harrow, Harrow on the Hill and Rayners Lane.
