Wealdstone is located just to the north of Central Harrow. It has many Victorian and Edwardian properties, with 1930s housing heading further north towards Harrow Weald. Elmgrove, Belmont and Whitefriars are the area’s primary schools. Harrow High, and Salvatorian College and Sacred Heart Catholic schools provide secondary education for the area.
Harrow and Wealdstone Station is a major transport hub for the area. It’s the northern-most point on the Bakerloo line which takes commuters to Paddington, Marylebone, the West End and south of the river to Elephant and Castle. The zone 5 station is also served by the Overground service into Euston, out to Watford, Milton Keynes and the Midlands. Fast trains also travel to Clapham Junction, Gatwick Airport, and finally to Brighton. Plenty of buses stop outside the station – 140, 182, 186, 258, 340, H9, H10 and the N18 night bus. These routes also travel to and from the central Harrow Bus Station.
Wealdstone is home to the borough’s main sport and fitness facility – the Harrow Leisure Centre. Now run as a partnership between Harrow Council and Leisure Connection, its facilities include two swimming pools, a fitness centre, squash courts, rock climbing and table tennis and snooker rooms.
Shopping in the area is convenient with a good choice of supermarkets, retail chains and independent stores. Tesco has a large store south of the station, and a smaller Metro shop along Wealdstone High Street. The central part of the High Street is pedestrianised, and hosts the Post Office, banking facilities and Wealdstone Library.
Wealdstone borders with Harrow Weald, Central Harrow and Kenton.
