South Harrow is situated on the south-west border of the borough. Plenty of affordable homes surround the vibrant and varied shopping area on the Northolt Road. The housing stock consists of mainly Edwardian, Victorian and 1930s style houses, with plenty of terrace properties close to the station. Local primary schools are Welldon Park and Earlsmead First and Middle. For secondary education Rooks Heath College and Whitmore is within walking distance of (or a quick bus ride from) South Harrow station.
South Harrow is served by its zone 5 Piccadilly Line Station, which opened in 1903. This takes travellers into central London, and out to Uxbridge. It is one stop from Rayners Lane where commuters can pick up the Metropolitan Line for a fast journey into the City. At the southern end of Northolt Road lies Northolt Park station, served by the Chiltern Line, with trains into Marylebone station and High Wycombe. South Harrow is also served by the 114, 140, 395, 398, 487, H9 and H12. The 140 provides a direct journey to Heathrow Airport.
A short walk from South Harrow and the Northolt Road takes you to Roxeth Recreation Ground. It has tennis courts, cricket and football facilities, a new children’s playground and an ornamental garden.
The area has a large Waitrose and a Sainsburys supermarket, and plenty of banks and building societies, a post office, Boots and Roxeth Library on the Northolt Road. There is also a wide variety of useful independent shops, bars and restaurants along the main road.
South Harrow borders with Rayners Lane, Northolt, West Harrow, and the Shaftesbury Circle area.
