Possibly the most desirable area in the borough, 'Lovely Pinner' is situated on the west outskirts of Harrow. It retains an historic village feel; its origins date back as far as c.900. It is a very residential area with diverse housing styles, a large proportion of these being detached. Also there are a large number of good quality purpose built apartments. Pinner has remained popular with families. The area is home to highly sought after primary schools including West Lodge and Cannon Lane, both providing catchment for Nower Hill High School.
Pinner Underground station is central to the area, and is in Zone 5 on the Watford branch of the Metropolitan Line. This provides a quick journey to Baker Street and into the heart of the City of London. Bus routes include 183, H11, H13 and H12, which stop along Bridge Street.
Since 1336 Pinner has hosted an annual street Fair, which is held on the Wednesday after the Spring Bank Holiday. Each week Pinner is home to a French Market on Bridge Street, and once a year you can enjoy Pinner Musical Festival in the Memorial Park. There are also plenty of interesting local events held throughout the calendar.
Pinner Village is well known for its excellent restaurants, pubs and coffee shops along the High Street. It also has a choice of good supermarkets – Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer Food Hall are on the High Street, with a large Tesco in Pinner Green. The shopping area has numerous banks and building societies, and a main post office. There are also interesting gift and antique shops for the local community. Pinner Library is a short walk from the village centre.
Bordering districts are North Harrow, Hatch End, Northwood Hills and Eastcote. |
