Despite its name, North Harrow is located quite centrally within the borough of Harrow. This is a very residential area, born out of the Metropolitan Railway expansion of the early 1900’s. Most homes here are traditional 1930’s semi-detached houses. Further towards West Harrow we find an increase of Victorian and Edwardian period properties. North Harrow is popular with families, with sought after primary schools such as Vaughan and Pinner Park. For secondary education Nower Hill is one of the Beacon Schools in the borough and is a popular ‘first choice’ for parents.

North Harrow Underground Station opened in 1915, and provides excellent commuter travel into Central London. It is in Zone 5 on the Watford Branch of the Metropolitan line. The Piccadilly Line is just a 15 minute walk away, at Rayners Lane station. The area’s closest Overground station is Headstone Lane, which provides links to Euston mainline station. Buses H9 and H10 stop outside North Harrow station, with the 183 a two minute walk away on the Pinner Road.

The Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre is located in Headstone Manor Recreation Ground. Here you can discover Harrow’s historical past, and take the family along to special events and exhibitions throughout the year. North Harrow’s shopping area provides a post office, a Tesco Express, Lloyds bank, a selection of restaurants, take-aways and cafés, and plenty of independent specialist shops. The area is also serviced by North Harrow Library.

North Harrow borders Pinner, Central Harrow, Rayners Lane and Hatch End. These areas offer a good choice of shopping, dining, entertainment and transport facilities within a reasonable walking distance.
