Harrow Weald is at the top of the borough, and borders with the county of Hertfordshire. This makes the area a transitional place between London and the countryside. It is popular with families as it has some good value 1930s semi-detached and terraced homes. The northern part of Harrow Weald has some of the borough’s largest detached properties. Primary education is catered for by Weald and Belmont schools, with Hatch End as the closest high school. The Weald campus of Harrow College is situated just north of the Uxbridge Road.
The main transport hub of the area is Harrow Weald bus station, with routes 140, 182, 258, 340, H12, H18, H19, and the night bus service N18 travels from Trafalgar Square. Stanmore on the Jubilee Line is the nearest Underground station. Headstone Lane and Harrow and Wealdstone provide Overground services, with the latter also being the northern terminus of the Bakerloo line.
Harrow Weald is a great place for getting out into the countryside, with the ancient woods of Bentley Priory offering peaceful walks and a chance to feed the deer. Old Redding has a marvellous view across London from its free carpark and picnic area. The charming Case is Altered pub accommodates families for food and refreshments, and has a busy garden on sunny Sunday afternoons.
Shopping facilities for the area include Waitrose and Iceland supermarkets, and the large Homebase superstore. Up the hill towards Bushey is the large Shoots Garden Centre. NatWest bank is at the junction of Long Elmes and the High Road, opposite the Weald Stone Inn.
