One of the highest points in London, Harrow on the Hill is a very desirable place to live with its picturesque village and the famous Harrow School. Properties consist of a lot of Georgian terrace houses in narrow sloping streets. There are also many large Victorian and Edwardian buildings, a number of which have been converted into apartments. Also you’ll find purpose built apartment blocks as well as some very exclusive detached properties on the slopes of the hill.
Roxeth First and Middle serves as the area’s main primary school, with Whitmore and Harrow High providing secondary state education. Harrow School is one of the UK’s foremost public schools, which has educated seven of our country’s Prime Ministers. John Lyon is also a notable public school located on the lower slopes of the hill. The Clementine Churchill is the borough’s premier private hospital facility, situated on the London Road.
Due to its geographic location Harrow on the Hill isn’t directly served by rail, although Harrow on the Hill Metropolitan and Chiltern Line station is nearby. South Harrow is also within walking distance and provides a Piccadilly Line service. The closest other Chiltern Line station is Sudbury Hill and Harrow Road, with a service into Marylebone and out towards the Midlands. The 258 and H17 buses pass over the hill.
A walk up to St Mary’s Church rewards people with a wonderful view over London and the surrounding open spaces. There are also some pleasant cafés and tea rooms providing refreshment, and some of the area’s best restaurants and bars. There is also a small supermarket and some specialist shops.
The area borders Sudbury Hill, and Central, South and West Harrow.
